All your measuring is flawed because you use a Infrared thermometer (wrong). You should read up on Emissivity or thermal imaging principles. That way you will also understand that the galvanized steel is in fact not cooler, its just a measurement error.

Spray your hose on the roof at the hottest part of the day. My roof drops 60 degrees when I wet it mid day in summer. Have fam who swear it can assist or replace using AC. Do t need a lot, just wet it. Becomes some type heat sink, as far as I can understand

NOTE: Some inside knobs do not have a "press in" catch that's used to release the knob. Mine has a tiny 3/32" hex screw that requires loosening (after which you need to remove the hex driver) THEN the knob will slide off effortlessly. I found this out after an hour or two of looking for a catch like the ones in all these UA-cam videos, a catch that requires just pressing in for a 'click' which releases the knob. I have no idea how unusual the hex screw-type catch is, but it is very real. I used it on two door lock mechanisms that were loose and required removal of the inside knob for access to the two main screws for tightening..

A product called Terro comes in a little bottle and last a long time. One dime size or smaller drop in a small piece if cardboard and place where you see any ant trail or just ants and it is game over. One time application and done. They pack it back to the nest and it kills them all right quick. No reapeating applications like you have to do with borax even though I do use Borax around my garden for ants and termites.

You suggested to chisel off the wood but i tried with no result except for a cut in my finger. What tool do you suggest to cut a hole in the wooden frame? I'm imagining an electric saw?
